Tony Spring has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bloomingdale’s since February 2014 and Executive Vice President of Macy’s Inc. since August 2021. In his role, he oversees all facets of Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury brands.

Mr. Spring’s long standing career with Bloomingdale’s spans over three decades and began in 1987 when he was hired as an executive trainee at the White Plains, New York store. Over the next few years, he advanced to hold several positions before being appointed Senior Vice President of Home Furnishings. In 1998 Mr. Spring was promoted to Executive Vice President, and then in 2004, was named Senior Executive Vice President of Marketing. In this role, he oversaw and developed Bloomingdale’s Direct, Bloomingdales.com, restaurants, and other areas.

Prior to being appointed to his current position, Mr. Spring served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Bloomingdale’s, assuming responsibility of Bloomingdale’s stores, company marketing, creative services, finance, operations, and restaurants.

He serves as Chairman for the National Retail Federation Foundation (NRFF), in addition to serving on the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the Hospital for Special Surgery advisory boards.

Mr. Spring holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.
