Giovanni Leonardo Bassan is an Italian artist and designer based in Paris. After university, he began an international career that bridges the worlds of art, furniture, and design. For the past 15 years, he has served as head of the Rick Owens furniture and art line, working alongside his longtime mentor Michèle Lamy, continuing a creative dialogue between sculpture, space, and material. Mr. Bassan’s work has been exhibited internationally in both solo and group shows, including at galleries like White Cube and institutions such as Ca’ d’Oro in Venice. His multidisciplinary practice combines craftsmanship, experimentation, and cultural reflection, exploring the intersection between intimacy and strength.
Beyond his artistic practice, Mr. Bassan is committed to charitable and volunteer initiatives that promote intercultural dialogue and social inclusion, values that deeply inform his creative philosophy.
As Co-founder and Creative Director of Katkoot, he shapes the brand’s artistic vision and aesthetic identity. The sculptural metal base that defines every Katkoot bottle is his original creation; a handmade piece produced in a Venetian atelier, designed to transform each wine into a collectible object that unites design, art, and craftsmanship.
Mr. Bassan completed his studies at the School of Art A. Martini di Schio and graduated with a degree in industrial design from the Politecnico of Milan.
