Born in London, Kim Jones knew he wanted to pursue a creative career from a young age. He decided to pursue fashion and attended Central Saint Martins. His graduation show was covered extensively by the press, convincing him to launch his eponymous brand which he showed at London Fashion Week in 2003. A stint as designer for British sportswear brand Umbro followed, which was the first time a cutting-edge young designer successfully took on a mass menswear brand in the United Kingdom. Mr. Jones would then go on to design for Topman, Mulberry, Alexander McQueen, and Alfred Dunhill, where he injected his own vibrant mix of high fashion and street style into classic English menswear. He joined Louis Vuitton in 2011 as Men’s Artistic Director and presented his last collection in 2018, with one of the most anticipated moments being his collaboration with the streetwear label Supreme.
Next, Mr. Jones was appointed Artistic Director of Dior Men’s Ready-to-Wear and Accessories, showing his collections around the world, including in front of the Pyramids of Giza. During his time at Dior, he founded Kim Jones Studio, a multi-disciplinary studio based in London, and also took on a second role as Artistic Director at Fendi. For four years, he led Fendi’s women’s ready-to-wear and couture collections. This past January, he showed his widely celebrated last collection for Dior Men’s before stepping down.
Mr. Jones attended Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where he earned a master of arts in menswear.
