Tory Burch is Executive Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Tory Burch LLC.
Ms. Burch grew up on a farm in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and studied art history at the University of Pennsylvania. She moved to New York in the 1990s and worked for Zoran, Harper’s Bazaar, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, and Loewe.
She launched her collection in 2004 with a clear purpose: to build a global luxury lifestyle brand that would support a foundation for women’s empowerment. Her aesthetic is anchored in the relaxed elegance of American sportswear, known for its craftmanship and quality. As her collections evolve and shift the standard perceptions of femininity, her ambition remains the same: to inspire women to embrace their individuality and personal style.
In 2009, Ms. Burch established the Tory Burch Foundation to provide women entrepreneurs in the United States with capital, education, and community. Every Tory Burch product supports the Foundation’s work to empower women, and through her unique hybrid model, she has created a paradigm for authentic brand purpose.
She serves on several boards, including the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Wharton School’s Jay H. Baker Retailing Center. Ms. Burch is a founding advisory council member of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum, member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and trustee at The Barnes Foundation.
