Constance White is an award-winning, trailblazing, independent journalist and editorial consultant with expertise in style and Black culture. She is Author of How To Slay: Kings and Queens of Black Style and Editor of Essence: A Salute to Michelle Obama. Ms. White also co-created and hosted a special 13-episode podcast for Univision called How To Slay, which is currently available on all podcast platforms.
 
Ms. White started her fashion career at WWD covering agenda-setting designers like Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Tracy Reese, and Donna Karan. She also covered fashion for The New York Times and Elle, co-created the news segment for Full Frontal Fashion, and served as Editor in Chief of Essence. She worked for Tina Brown’s start up Talk before joining eBay to create content and serve as style and media adviser for style partnerships, live events, fashion, and media strategy. Ms. White was the first Black woman to hold an executive position at a major fashion magazine becoming Executive Fashion Editor of Elle. She has written extensively as an independent journalist for The Chicago Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, British Vogue, among other publications. Ms. White's wide-ranging experience in style spans collaborations with cultural touchstones from Beyoncé to Bloomingdales to Billy Porter, and as a leading expert on fashion and Black style, she has appeared on Today, iHeartRadio’s The Breakfast Club, and MSNBC. She has taught at City University of New York’s Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, and in January, she joined the executive leadership of the Fashion Institute of Technology’s Social Justice Center.
 
Ms. White holds a master of business administration from Kellogg School of Management.
