One of the most preeminent American fashion designers of the 21st century, Narciso Rodriguez is renowned for his unique aesthetic of timeless elegance and purity. With a creative vision that transcends the boundaries of fashion and fragrance, his work has always been inspired by women – their beauty, their strength, and their grace.
Born to first-generation Cuban immigrants, Mr. Rodriguez studied at Parson’s School of Design before joining Anne Klein under Donna Karan. In 1995 he became Design Director of TSE and Design Director of Cerruti. His architectural precision and ability to exalt the female form garnered industry acclaim, and in 1997, the Narciso Rodriguez label was launched. That same year, Loewe appointed Mr. Rodriguez as Design Director of the women’s ready-to-wear collection.
In 2002 and 2003, Mr. Rodriguez became the first designer ever to receive consecutive Womenswear Designer of the Year awards by the CFDA, and in 2018 the CFDA honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Many influential women have chosen to wear his designs, including Carolyn Bessette, who wore a custom dress when she married John F. Kennedy Jr., and Michelle Obama.
The story of Narciso Rodriguez fragrances all started with musc. In his youth, Mr. Rodriguez was given a vial of rare Egyptian musc oil, and he became fascinated with the oil’s ability to reflect and reveal the nature of whoever wears it. Musc became the heart of his own fragrance, For Her Eau De Toilette, which received the 2003 FiFi Award for Best New Fragrance. 2023 marked the 20th anniversary of Narciso Rodriguez Parfums, and the beginning of the designer’s next chapter with the launch of his bold new fragrance, All of Me
