Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Haider Ackermann’s upbringing has woven a rich tapestry spanning Ethiopia, Chad, Algeria, The Netherlands, Belgium, and France, shaping his unique fashion sensibility.
Mr. Ackermann is renowned for blending luxurious fabrics with impeccable tailoring; his designs feature fluid silhouettes, rich textures, and a sophisticated palette. He has garnered acclaim for avant-garde, yet wearable designs favored by celebrities and highlighted at events such as the Cannes Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, Academy Awards, and Met Gala, reflecting his vision of contrasts, cultural fusion, and effortless sophistication.
Throughout his career, Mr. Ackermann has consistently been at the forefront of pivotal fashion and
cultural moments. He launched his eponymous fashion label to widespread acclaim and has spearheaded influential collaborations with prestigious brands such as Berluti, Fila, Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture, and Canada Goose. Notably, in 2012, Mr. Ackermann was honored with the Fashion Group International Award for Design by Karl Lagerfeld during the Fashion Night of Stars. In 2018, he served as President of the 33rd International Festival of Fashion and Photography in Hyères, France, and in 2023, he took on the role of President of the Jury for the inaugural Latin American Fashion Awards.
TOM FORD announced the appointment of Mr. Ackermann as Creative Director of TOM FORD in 2024. In his new role, he assumes the creative leadership across all TOM FORD fashion categories, including menswear, womenswear, accessories, and eyewear, and guides the creative vision for the overall brand.
He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
