Alec Batis is a product innovator, accomplished chemist, seasoned marketer, and Co-founder of Sweet Chemistry Labs. With a 35-year track record of bringing some of the world’s most iconic beauty products to market, he held key roles at companies including Pfizer, L'Oréal Group, Redken, Kiehl's, Shiseido, and NARS.
Driven by a vision for skin health and innovation, Mr. Batis left his corporate career and invested his life savings to create Sweet Chemistry Labs. His mission: to develop scientifically backed skincare that genuinely transforms skin without compromising safety or integrity.
While consulting after working at the major beauty houses, Mr. Batis connected with Dr. John O’Neill, an expert in extracellular matrix technologies and Chief Scientific Officer at Xylyx Bio, a regenerative medicine company developing solutions for tissue and organ repair. Dr. O’Neill and his team discovered regenerative peptides derived from cow bone—later trademarked as Matrikynes® and now patent-pending. The peptides demonstrated remarkable regenerative effects, prompting the team, in partnership with Mr. Batis, to explore skincare as a new frontier. The result was a groundbreaking formulation that repairs skin by fostering healthy, living tissue—not nonfunctioning scar tissue.
Sweet Chemistry Labs launched in 2023 with the Max Repair System followed by the Hydra Series. The first-of-their-kind formulas rethink traditional emulsion processes, prioritize performance over marketing trends, and are built on a foundation of scientific transparency.
Mr. Batis was featured in the Emmy-nominated documentary Toxic Beauty and is a member of the 2026 Global Cosmetic Industry advisory board.
