Speaker Bio

Julian Reis’ passion is discovering the small patterns that lead to big change across industries. He began as a macro-trader with an eye for market-shaking trends, then leveraged those talents to build and sell two successful hedge funds, including Pagoda Capital (acquired by Tudor Capital), and an international oil services business, Kuiper International (acquired by Gulf Capital).

In 2013, witnessing transformative shifts in the beauty space, Mr. Reis became an angel investor for cosmetics etailer Luxola (sold to LVMH) and for the disruptive dermatology brand Skin Laundry. Recognizing the rapid rise of social commerce in China, he founded SuperOrdinary in Shanghai in 2018 as a research-and-accelerator platform to nurture the next generation of innovative consumer brands. Under his leadership, SuperOrdinary has grown into a global growth partner, with a worldwide team of social commerce and marketplace experts helping brands and creators establish influence, scale global sales channels, and build vibrant communities. The company works with over 300 leading consumer brands and maintains a network of more than one million creators globally, with state-of-the-art live-streaming studios in Shanghai and Los Angeles. Mr. Reis leads a diverse team of more than 250 professionals drawn from top brands and tech companies. He is committed to building an inclusive, performance-driven culture that blends data-driven experimentation with creative storytelling.

Beyond his executive duties, Mr. Reis hosts On the Record, a podcast that delves into the stories behind bold business moves, disruptive ideas, and the human drivers of innovation.
