Meredith Melling is Co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of La Ligne, the New York-based fashion brand she launched in 2016 alongside Valerie Macaulay and Molly Howard. Built around the enduring appeal of the stripe and a philosophy of timeless, versatile dressing, La Ligne has grown from a direct-to-consumer startup into an established fashion and lifestyle brand with a growing retail presence.
Prior to launching La Ligne, Ms. Melling spent more than a decade at Vogue, beginning her career there in 1999 and ultimately becoming Fashion Director of Vogue.com. During her tenure, she held several influential editorial positions, including Senior Market Editor, and oversaw Vogue's Index section as well as its work with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund.
In 2013, Ms. Melling co-founded La Marque with Ms. Macaulay, a creative, content, and styling consultancy that worked with a range of fashion and lifestyle clients. The experience gave the pair a more entrepreneurial perspective and ultimately laid the groundwork for La Ligne, which they launched with Ms. Howard in 2016.
Ms. Melling's editorial sensibility continues to shape the brand's identity, voice, and cultural relevance. Her experience at Vogue, where she developed a deep understanding of fashion, talent, storytelling, and emerging designers, has translated into a brand that extends beyond product into collaborations, celebrity and cultural partnerships, and a highly recognizable visual world.
She remains an influential and highly connected figure within the fashion community, bringing together her editorial background, creative network, and instinct for talent to continue shaping La Ligne as it enters its second decade.
